Throughout the grooming process, we take great care to ensure the health, safety and well-being of your pet. However, we cannot be held liable for pre-existing conditions &/or problems encountered throughout the grooming process.
Any advice provided, in regards to the heath or care of your pet, should be addressed with your veterinarian.
Our first concern is for the welfare of your pet, so in event of injury, illness or medical problem, a veterinarian may be sought. All related costs will be at the owner’s expense, unless proven to be a direct result of Mell’s Grooming. We therefore recommend all clients maintain adequate medical insurance for their pet.
All clients are required to:
• Sign a pet grooming declaration/consent form.
• Show proof of current vaccination.
• Inform us of all known medical problems, allergies, etc.
• Inform us of any changes to your pet’s health & behavior.
• Inform us if your pet has any aggressive tendencies, so a muzzle may be used as needed.
Mell’s Grooming reserves the right to decline grooming a pet, if it shows unmanageable aggression, anxiety or other other anti-social tendencies. In such an event, the owner will be contacted immediately and asked to collect their pet at no charge.
Under no circumstances will Mell’s Grooming accept sedated or aggressive pets.
The grooming of elderly pets is undertaken entirely at the owner’s risk.
In the event of severely matted/overgrown coats and the need to clip down, the owner should be aware that irritation might occur from the shaving process. These mats tend to be located very close to the skin, around the ears, neck, armpits and groin. The owner agrees that Mell’s Grooming will not be held liable for any after grooming effects or problems uncovered on a severely matted or neglected coat. This treatment is not routine and your pet may look very different afterwards. We will at all times seek the owner’s consent before carrying out any such grooming procedure.
An extra charge may be incurred if your pet is badly matted &/or of the session takes longer due to behavior issues.
If fleas are found on your pet, a flee control treatment may be used &/or a flea bath be administered to eradicate the fleas and maintain the salon’s sanitation. This is at the groomer’s discretion and at the client’s expense.
Owners should not feed their pet 2 hours prior to their appointment and ensure their animals are toileted. A pet with a full stomach &/or bowel/bladder will find the grooming process very uncomfortable. We charge for the additional time and cleaning materials required in cleaning up after your pet.
Every effort will be made to groom your pet to meet your expectations. However it must be made clear, no guarantees can be made in this regard. At Mell’s Grooming, we accept no responsibility for the grooming being carried out according to instructions of the owner. Records are kept in order to track progress and it may take several grooming sessions for the coat to grow to desired style.
Your pet may be photographed &/or video recorded before, during and after its session. These images may be used on our website, social media pages, advertisements, etc., unless you specifically request us not to do so. Any such opt-out request must be detailed in writing, and submitted to us at time of your pet’s appointment.
We photograph and/or video every case of neglect brought into the salon for grooming and we may also save a sample of fur. We reserve the right to use these items as we deem appropriate.
Payment must be made upon collection of the pet. Owners are requested to collect their pet at the time stated. We charge an additional fee for any pet left beyond the time stated.
If you arrive more than 15 minutes late for an appointment, without contacting us, then we may have to reschedule your slot and reserve the right to charge a cancellation fee.
It is a requirement that you advise us prior to your appointment, if your pet has any medical conditions, is taking medication prescribed by a vet, or any other information which could help us provide a stress free grooming service to your pet.
If you are unsure which tools and/or products to use to groom your pet with between appointments please ask, we’re happy to help and advise you.
WE MAY REFUSE TO GROOM PETS THAT PRESENT A RISK OF INJURY TO THEMSELVES OR STAFF.
